Corporate Volunteer Activities

The Fresh Air Fund can work with you to develop a special service project or “team building” event. The Fund works with groups of all sizes and can schedule events on weekdays, weekends, or weekday evenings. 
Popular Team Projects Include:

Counselor for a Day
Spend a day with Fresh Air Fund campers and give the counselors a break!  Have lunch with the campers and help lead sports games or an arts and crafts project. 

Camp Clean-Up Days
Spend a day at one of The Fund’s camps in Fishkill, NY clearing trails, raking leaves, and painting cabins to prepare camp for thousands of Fresh Air children. Camp Clean-Up days take place in the fall and spring.

Community Outreach Events
Entertain Fresh Air children and help parents complete registration materials at special recruitment and registration events held throughout the five boroughs at schools, community centers and with The Fund's partner community-based agencies.

Host a Job Shadowing
Invite a group of students to visit you and your colleagues to learn what a typical workday is like in your field. Job shadowings are usually an hour and a half and take place after school (4:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.) or during school vacations. The Fund’s staff can help you plan all of the details!

Lead a Career Workshop
Visit Camp Mariah on a summer weekend and introduce the Career Awareness students to your industry by leading a hands-on activity.

Assist at a Friendly Town Departure
Check in campers at the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal in Manhattan or entertain youngsters at the Port Authority Bus Terminal with fake tattoos, coloring, and conversation as they wait to board buses for Friendly Town vacations.

Pizza Party Stuffing Nights
Join a group of volunteers at The Fund’s midtown office to send out flyers, assemble registration packets and compile mailings to all of the communities The Fund works with. Pizza Party Stuffing Nights are typically scheduled on weekday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Outreach Calling Nights
Help call parents of Fresh Air Fund children to keep them updated with current registration and departure information. Pizza, soda and good company are provided. Outreach Calling Nights are typically scheduled on weekday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
