Christina Smythe

It's great to get out of the city and away from the noise!" says Christina Smythe, a 14-year-old Fresh Air camper from Camp Anita Bliss Coler. Christina learns something new at camp each summer and that is why she says, after six years in the program, she keeps coming back.

This coming summer, Christina will be part of the Leaders-in-Training program at Camp ABC. Campers are chosen for the program based on their leadership skills and their ability to positively influence their peers. The program helps foster a sense of independence and self-confidence in the young women.

Christina's 12-day encampments have not only been just for fun; they have inspired the teen to give back to her community. As part of Prospect Park Alliance, Christina helps clean up Prospect Park and plant trees during the school year. Christina also hopes to attend college outside of the city thanks to her experiences at Fresh Air Fund camp.
