Hasan Dennis
Hasan Dennis' life has truly been influenced through his involvement in The Fresh Air Fund's camping programs. Now a senior in high school, Hasan first attended Camp Hayden-Marks Memorial nine years ago. He continued to spend two more summers there and then another three summers at Camp Mariah, one part of The Fund's Career Awareness Program (CAP).
After graduating from CAP, Hasan became involved in The Fund's PreOccupations Club, which he still attends meetings for each week. The club is open to graduates of CAP and allows young people to continue to develop career-related skills and benefit from post-high school planning and college guidance. Hasan also meets at Google's Manhattan office every Tuesday as part of an affiliated program where PreOccupations students meet with Google employees in a small group to discuss current events, summer programs and other relevant topics.
Hasan hopes to puruse a double major in engineering and music at SUNY Binghamton next year and says his camping experience is what influenced him to look at colleges outside of the city.
