Every summer over 3,000 city children pack their bags for a trip to one of our five summer camps just north of New York City. For many, it'll be their first time away from the sweltering concrete and busy streets.

Over four hundred counselors from around the world will be there to share the excitement, the tears, the achievements, and the challenge.

Work in New York City

Throughout the year, The Fresh Air Fund offers a variety of employment opportunities at its midtown Manhattan office. These positions are crucial to the success of The Fund’s summer programming.

Summer employees assist full-time Camping, Friendly Town and Community Outreach staff in coordinating and facilitating thousands of Fresh Air experiences. These positions involve a broad range of responsibilities from administration and file management to fieldwork. Some positions involve working with and/or supervising children.

The Fund also offers a year-round public relations internship program for college students. Spring, summer and fall paid interns learn the basics of public relations as they assist The Fund’s Public Relations Department in increasing awareness of Fresh Air programs.  Learn more
