Volunteer in a Friendly Town
Each summer, close to 5,000 children visit suburban and small-town communities across 13 northeastern states from Virginia to Maine and into Canada. Volunteer host families open their hearts and share their homes for up to two weeks with one of these children from New York City. Dedicated volunteer committee members in each Friendly Town work tirelessly throughout the year to prepare for every child’s visit, conduct outreach activities, recruit new host families and coordinate transportation. The Fund greatly appreciates the time and commitment of each host family and volunteer who makes a difference in the life of a child.
...become a host
One of the great ways to volunteer in a Friendly Town is to open your home – and your heart – to a Fresh Air child this summer.
...help out in other ways
There are a number of other ways to volunteer in a Friendly Town – from recruiting new hosts in your neighborhood, to escorting children to your town, to helping organize picnics over the summer, and much more.
